Overview
Brutal. Relentless. Unforgiving. The Barbarian in Dark and Darker is the embodiment of raw, untamed power. Fueled by rage and primal instinct, this class thrives in brutal melee combat where finesse is optional and devastation is mandatory. Barbarians excel in close-range engagements, wielding massive two-handed weapons to crush anything standing in their way. Their high stamina pool and natural toughness make them hard to kill, and their animal-like reflexes give them an edge in chaotic brawls, ambushes, and break-ins. They’re built to outlast, overpower, and overrun.
The Barbarian is built like a tank and hits like a freight train. He’s stubborn, pain-resistant, and always ready to dive headfirst into battle. His reckless fighting style thrives in chaos, and his sheer presence can shift the flow of a fight. He doesn’t dodge. He endures.
Primary Weapons: Heavy-duty, high-impact weapons.
Strengths & Weakness
Strengths | Weaknesses |
---|---|
Massive Health Pool – Takes a beating and keeps swinging. | Snail-Paced Movement – Slow enough to get outmaneuvered easily. |
Natural Magic Resistance – Tougher than most against spellcasters with Iron WillIron Will. | Terrible Interaction Speed – Don’t bother opening anything manually. |
Potent Buffs and Debuffs – Skills can tilt the tide when used right. | Barely Any Ranged Options – No bows, no spells, just brute force. |
Perks & Skill
- Smash, Don’t Open: Your interaction speed sucks. Use the CrushCrush perk to break doors and chests—just know it doesn’t grant EXP.
- Force Melee Fights: You’re useless at range. Use terrain, corners, and aggression to trap enemies in close quarters where you dominate.
- Speed Kills… You: Avoid duels with faster classes while swinging a two-hander. You’re easily punished during recovery. Carry a Hatchet or Horseman’s Axe as a backup. No backup? Press X and go bare-knuckle.
- Francisca Axes are No Joke: With Axe SpecializationAxe Specialization, these things chunk low-health classes like Wizard in 2–3 hits. They also slow, making escapes harder.
- Breaching Tactic: Use your door-breaking ability to kick off aggressive pushes and catch players completely off-guard.
- Counter Your Slowness: Buffs like RageRage, HasteHaste (Wizard), or AccelerandoAccelerando (Bard) help cover your awful movement speed.
- Understand Berserker Scaling: The BerserkerBerserker perk’s damage boost scales down when you stack Health Bonus effects (RobustRobust, War CryWar Cry, Blood ExchangeBlood Exchange).
Don’t overstack or you’ll cancel your own damage gains.
